‘Walking Dead’ Finale Devours 15.8 Million Viewers | Multichannel + iZombie (The CW)

‘Walking Dead’ Finale Devours 15.8 Million Viewers | Multichannel.

Still unsure why you should watch The Walking Dead on AMC. Yes, if you read the article attached to the link above, the stats mention the 18-49 age bracket. But “we” all know just how useless that’s become.

Just look at how our age bracket affected Longmire this past viewing season. A&E dumped it and Netflix picked it up. Very possibly due to pressure from our age bracket and because they realized a quality show when they saw one.

The fact is, The Walking Dead isn’t just about zombies, it’s about humans overcoming adversity. The zombies represent just another wall to climb, negative to overcome, or enemy to defeat.

Just when Season 5 of The Walking Dead began, it was announced there would be a Season 6. The first season only had 6 episodes. Season 5 had 16.

There are more “zombie” related shows on television than you count on one hand. The CW has one that is so unique, you should definitely set your DVR to catch it. iZombie, stars Malcolm Goodwin (you may know him from Breakout Kings) and Rose McIver (The Lovely Bones).

Goodwin plays a homicide detective who thinks McIver has psychic powers. The truth is, McIver is a zombie and when she devours the brains of the dead people in the morgue where she works she ends up “digesting” some of their “personality traits” and can “see” who killed them.

iZombie creators Diane Ruggiero and Rob Thomas are the same team behind Veronica Mars (2004 & 2014). iZombie is slated for 13 episodes at this time and I’ve devoured the first two episodes and can hardly wait for more.

iZombie is on the CW Network on Tuesdays at 8pm CST. Set those DVRs, you don’t want to miss this show.

BTW: There’s very little gore or violence in this show, and yes, she does eat brains, but it’s usually tastefully done in a pita pocket or disguised in other ways, so if you’ve avoided The Walking Dead because of the “zombie” element, you shouldn’t have any trouble watching iZombie and will thoroughly enjoy the cleverness of this show.

The Best & Worst of 2014! People Mags December 22 Issue

People Magazines Best & Worst of 2014 Dec. 22 Cover

People Magazines Best & Worst of 2014 Dec. 22 Cover

When this issue hits our mailbox at work, I always make sure to read it cover-to-cover. Most of the other People Magazines that arrive in the mail I just page through, but the Best & Worst is always interesting and since I don’t pay for the subscription, that’s even better.

This year-end issue they usually forecast who will be HOT in the coming year and they didn’t disappoint … They mention Kathy Griffith taking over for the late Joan Rivers on Fashion Police. I never watched that show, so I could give a rat’s ass who takes over. Up and comers versus backstabbers is the daughters of Melanie Griffin and Don Johnson, Dakota Johnson, who we’ll be seeing in the adaptation of 50 Shades of Grey. That girl has strong acting genes on both sides of the bloodline.

Katy Perry will be headlining the half time show at the Super Bowl in 2015 (Feb. 1), which is just a week before the Grammys (Feb. 8). I wonder if Taylor Swift feels snubbed.

On page 50 they list the Top 10 “Your Faves” Pop Culture’s Most Wanted, Streamed, Watched and Read of 2014. Under Prime-Time Cable, #8 was… yep, you guessed it … Longmire. The show A&E dumped and the show Netflix has now picked up and put into filming for Season 4. That was the only A&E show listed. The Walking Dead was #1 (of course) followed by Game of Thrones (HBO); American Horror Story (FX); Sons of Anarchy (FX); Rizzoli & Isles (TNT); Major Crimes (TNT); The Last Ship (TNT); Longmire (A&E); True Blood (HBO); The Real Housewives of Atlanta (Bravo).

Movies, Most Streamed Songs on Spotify, Kindle Bestsellers, Increase in Twitter Followers, and some other social media garbage is also listed.

I also use this issue to see if I missed anyone in my 2014 list of obituaries. People, of course lists the really big celebrities who died, but they also included some of the lesser known celebrities.

I’ll be putting up my list starting on Friday, December 19.

TV Marathons – A Big Part of Turkey Day

Every Thanksgiving, the sound of the television has always been in the background. If not a football game, it’s the Macy’s Day Parade, a cooking show or a favorite series or holiday movie. Here’s a list of just a few of the marathons scheduled for this upcoming Thanksgiving weeked.

All times are Eastern. You can always check to see what’s on your favorite channels by Googling their schedule (for example: Cloo Schedule). Have a wonderful Thanksgiving.

‘Walking Dead’ Tackles ESPN Football In Ratings | Multichannel

‘Walking Dead’ Tackles ESPN Football In Ratings | Multichannel.

I’m rather confused by this particular article, because The Walking Dead airs on Sunday night and ESPN televises their football games on MONDAY night. So I read a little deeper and I realized the author, Umstead, was comparing “top ratings honors” between the two cable shows.

Hmmmm, must be a slow TV news day. Not to mention the picture he uses is from last season. Oh well, we can’t all be hip and cool.

The chart at the end of the article is rather interesting – right off the bat there’s 2.4 million viewers separating The Walking Dead and Monday Night Football, but again I just don’t get the comparison. There’s over 6 million separating Monday Night Football and the MLB Playoffs.

The Talking Dead is just under the MLB Playoffs with 5.1 million (go Chris Hardwick). America loves its Dead.

Over at AMC, Seth Gilliam is now in the mix as Father Gabriel Stokes. Gilliam, 45, has a long and impressive list of TV and movie credits, but is probably most well known for his work on The Wire as Det./Sgt. Ellis Carver.

Tyler James Williams will also be joining the cast of The Walking Dead this season. You might know him from the movie Everybody Hates Chris.

If you saw the premiere episode of Season 5 you may have caught a brief sighting of Lennie James (Morgan Jones), who was in Season 1 and Season 3 and continues to be a fan favorite.

You can look forward to not only this season of The Walking Dead, but AMC renewed it for a sixth season just a few days before the premiere episode on Sunday, October 12.

‘Walking Dead’ Returns with Record 17.3M Viewers | Multichannel

‘Walking Dead’ Returns with Record 17.3M Viewers | Multichannel.

Yes, that’s 17.3 MILLION Viewers according to Nielsen live plus same-day data.

If you haven’t seen the premiere episode you can see it at amctv.com without having to log-in, for the next 29 days (as of Tuesday, October 14).

The Talking Dead is also available to watch for the next 26 days (as of Tuesday, October 14). Chris Hardwick had some great guests on the premiere episode of the Talking Dead including Conan O’Brien, Scott M. Gimple and Greg Nicotero. Conan O’Brien was hysterical.

If you’re a baby boomer and think for one minute that other baby boomers aren’t watching The Walking Dead, then go to the amctv.com website and look for an advertisement asking “ARE YOU A FAN OF THE WALKING DEAD?” Join AMC’s Viewer Panel to unlock exclusive content and rewards.

One of the last questions asks for your birth date. When I put in mine, which qualifies me as a baby boomer, it kicks me out saying “that age category is presently filled at the moment.” That tells me AMC apparently wants the opinions of, and appreciates those of us in that silver surfing category.

The No Sanctuary episode of Season 5 of The Walking Dead was phenomenal. Well worth waiting for. Of course I had to wait until yesterday and last night to watch it, because I was so tired on Sunday that I fell asleep just minutes before it came on and woke up when the theme music was playing. At that point I packed it in and gave in to the sandman beating the heck out of me, and watched it online yesterday while I was at work.

I had to watch it again last night when I got home. It’s definitely one of my favorite episodes. Bravo to Norman Reedus for his superb acting upon seeing Melissa McBride. Bravo to the entire cast and crew.

The Zombie Assault Survival Kit from Channel Guide Magazine

The Zombie Assault Survival Kit from Channel Guide Magazine

Don’t forget to shuffle on over to www.channelguidemag.com/zombie for your chance to win a Zombie Assault Survival Kit. It’s got everything you’d need to survive in a zombie apocalypse: A 29-piece Human Survival Kit from Lifeline, a pack of Bicycle-brand Zombie playing cards with 52 tips on surviving a zombie apocalypse, a pet first aid kid, a mini human first aid kit (that’s a human first aid kit, not a first aid kit for a mini-human), a t-shirt, plus some helpful lists and it’s all contained in a nylon drawstring sportbag.

The Walking Dead Season 5 Premiere is Almost Here …

Only three days to go … and the hype is unbelievable. Over at amctv.com’s main page there’s an image of a zombie hand holding up 3 fingers, four actually, but one’s a stub with a cut off finger laying there. I’m sure in the next few days a few more fingers will be cut off.

I’m sure you’ve heard by now, well maybe you haven’t heard by now, that The Walking Dead was renewed for a sixth season. Wow! That’s the first time that happened in the history of the series.

If there was a zombie apocalypse tomorrow, would you be ready? Translated literally from Greek, an apocalypse is a disclosure of knowledge, a lifting of the veil or revelation. That’s way off from what us zombie lovers consider an apocalypse. Don’t you agree?

The Zombie Assault Survival Kit from Channel Guide Magazine

Channel Guide Magazine has a cool contest going that you might want to consider entering. You can win a Zombie Assault Survival Kit just by heading over to www.channelguidemag.com/zombie.

Those people at Channel Guide have thought of everything!

It all comes together in a nylon drawstring sportsbag that’s very roomy so you can carry other things in it too.

You can enter as often as you want from now until October 31. Thirty-five (35) winners will each win one of the Zombie Assault Survival Kits. So if you want one of these cool kits, you better enter now and enter frequently.

Tell your friends, living and undead.

Every single episode in the correct order is going on now … NOW! Rick just found Lori and Carl … and Shane. Meryl is still stuck on the roof. My favorite episode of Season 1, “Vatos” is up next.

What’s your favorite episode of Season 1? Click on the link above and you can play the “Know Your Walkers Photo Quizzes,” which is a great way to reintroduce yourself to the walkers from each season. Did I mention it’s fun to play.

Speaking of walkers, the one on the page with the link is scarrrrryyyyyyy.

There’s also Dispatches from the Season 5 Set, and take some polls on each one of the previous seasons.

Finally, there’s a schedule detailing when each one of the episodes from the last four seasons is on. Which is a big help if you want to set your DVR, or if you just happen to have cooking duty today.

It all culminates on Sunday night when Chris Hardwick is back hosting Talking Dead along with Scott M. Gimple and Aisha Tyler with a preview of Season 5.

Happy Independence Day! Now go set your DVR.
