‘Walking Dead’ Tackles ESPN Football In Ratings | Multichannel

‘Walking Dead’ Tackles ESPN Football In Ratings | Multichannel.

I’m rather confused by this particular article, because The Walking Dead airs on Sunday night and ESPN televises their football games on MONDAY night. So I read a little deeper and I realized the author, Umstead, was comparing “top ratings honors” between the two cable shows.

Hmmmm, must be a slow TV news day. Not to mention the picture he uses is from last season. Oh well, we can’t all be hip and cool.

The chart at the end of the article is rather interesting – right off the bat there’s 2.4 million viewers separating The Walking Dead and Monday Night Football, but again I just don’t get the comparison. There’s over 6 million separating Monday Night Football and the MLB Playoffs.

The Talking Dead is just under the MLB Playoffs with 5.1 million (go Chris Hardwick). America loves its Dead.

Over at AMC, Seth Gilliam is now in the mix as Father Gabriel Stokes. Gilliam, 45, has a long and impressive list of TV and movie credits, but is probably most well known for his work on The Wire as Det./Sgt. Ellis Carver.

Tyler James Williams will also be joining the cast of The Walking Dead this season. You might know him from the movie Everybody Hates Chris.

If you saw the premiere episode of Season 5 you may have caught a brief sighting of Lennie James (Morgan Jones), who was in Season 1 and Season 3 and continues to be a fan favorite.

You can look forward to not only this season of The Walking Dead, but AMC renewed it for a sixth season just a few days before the premiere episode on Sunday, October 12.

‘Walking Dead’ Returns with Record 17.3M Viewers | Multichannel

‘Walking Dead’ Returns with Record 17.3M Viewers | Multichannel.

Yes, that’s 17.3 MILLION Viewers according to Nielsen live plus same-day data.

If you haven’t seen the premiere episode you can see it at amctv.com without having to log-in, for the next 29 days (as of Tuesday, October 14).

The Talking Dead is also available to watch for the next 26 days (as of Tuesday, October 14). Chris Hardwick had some great guests on the premiere episode of the Talking Dead including Conan O’Brien, Scott M. Gimple and Greg Nicotero. Conan O’Brien was hysterical.

If you’re a baby boomer and think for one minute that other baby boomers aren’t watching The Walking Dead, then go to the amctv.com website and look for an advertisement asking “ARE YOU A FAN OF THE WALKING DEAD?” Join AMC’s Viewer Panel to unlock exclusive content and rewards.

One of the last questions asks for your birth date. When I put in mine, which qualifies me as a baby boomer, it kicks me out saying “that age category is presently filled at the moment.” That tells me AMC apparently wants the opinions of, and appreciates those of us in that silver surfing category.

The No Sanctuary episode of Season 5 of The Walking Dead was phenomenal. Well worth waiting for. Of course I had to wait until yesterday and last night to watch it, because I was so tired on Sunday that I fell asleep just minutes before it came on and woke up when the theme music was playing. At that point I packed it in and gave in to the sandman beating the heck out of me, and watched it online yesterday while I was at work.

I had to watch it again last night when I got home. It’s definitely one of my favorite episodes. Bravo to Norman Reedus for his superb acting upon seeing Melissa McBride. Bravo to the entire cast and crew.

Every single episode in the correct order is going on now … NOW! Rick just found Lori and Carl … and Shane. Meryl is still stuck on the roof. My favorite episode of Season 1, “Vatos” is up next.

What’s your favorite episode of Season 1? Click on the link above and you can play the “Know Your Walkers Photo Quizzes,” which is a great way to reintroduce yourself to the walkers from each season. Did I mention it’s fun to play.

Speaking of walkers, the one on the page with the link is scarrrrryyyyyyy.

There’s also Dispatches from the Season 5 Set, and take some polls on each one of the previous seasons.

Finally, there’s a schedule detailing when each one of the episodes from the last four seasons is on. Which is a big help if you want to set your DVR, or if you just happen to have cooking duty today.

It all culminates on Sunday night when Chris Hardwick is back hosting Talking Dead along with Scott M. Gimple and Aisha Tyler with a preview of Season 5.

Happy Independence Day! Now go set your DVR.

A Decade of The Walking Dead

No … not The Walking Dead, AMC’s soap opera about zombies … I’m talking about the comic book.

Do you get TWDM (The Walking Dead Magazine)? It’s like a perfect seque of comic and television show. If you’re not a comic person then it’s a perfect publication for you.

If you don’t want to subscribe to TWDM you could get it at http://www.TFAW.com. That’s where I get mine for $2 off the cover price and it’s the Previews Exclusive Edition. Or you could get it at any newsstand. However, the newsstand edition has a different cover.

It was during my first initial read of Issue #7 that I came across the youtube video The Walking Dead: A Decade of Dead. It’s a documentary detailing the history of The Walking Dead. It runs a little over 22 minutes. Trust me, there’s so much to learn, you won’t be sorry.

In Issue #7 there are interviews with Sarah Wayne Callies (Lori Grimes), Robert Kirkman and Stefano Gaudiano. Stefano is the new comic book inker, and I’m sure you know who Robert Kirkman is, don’t you? (Watch the video.)

Plus the usual Favorites, Head Shots and a regular fun column called, what else, “Body Parts.”

Chris Hardwick hosts The Talking Dead

Chris Hardwick hosts The Talking Dead

Now that The Walking Dead television show is into the back 8 episodes of Season 4, The Talking Dead has returned. If you’re not watching The Talking Dead, you just don’t know what you’re missing. Humor, interviews, insight into the actor’s craft as they take you through the process of the episode that just aired.

Chris Hardwick mentioned that he was happy to be back after the mid-season break. Greg Nicotero and Danai Gurira were the featured guests and pudding was on the set. That’s about all I’m willing to say, because I don’t like to “spoil” in my blog posts.

I’ll spoil this though – The Walking Dead will be back for a fifth season.

Awards – The Walking Dead – Definitely Award Worthy

Awards – The Walking Dead – AMC.

Well, The Walking Dead Season 3 is over until October when Season 4 starts. I had to watch the final episode twice to get a good grasp of how everything wrapped up. I was glad that there wasn’t a big cliffhanger scenario.

If you watched The Talking Dead‘s season finale, Norman Reedus said he was glad that the writers didn’t leave this season with all these open ended situations like they did when Season 3 ended. What was really weird was when they decided to take a caller and he started to speak this corpse rising incantation (he was from Tennessee). They cut him off (or hung up on him) after a few seconds, but it certainly left the panel and the host a little freaked out.

Of course no one knows exactly where The Governor drove off to.

The link above takes you to a long list of awards The Walking Dead and The Walking Dead Webisodes have won this year. Enjoy.

Oh, before you click, did you see the winning video of the AMC The Walking Dead/Dr. Pepper contest? It was very clever.

TWD No. 1 in THR Power Rankings (Spoiler Inside) – Marathon Continues

Merle Dixon played by Michael Rooker Photo Credit: Gene Page/AMC

Michael Rooker, Norman Reedus Talk Merles Death; TWD No. 1 in THR Power Rankings – The Walking Dead – AMC.

It’s Saturday, March 30, and if you haven’t seen last Sunday’s Walking Dead, then I have bad news for you, Merle Dixon has been killed … twice. His human form was killed by The Governor and his zombie form was killed by his brother Daryl.

Merle has been the antagonist in TWD for, well, all three seasons. In Season 2, he was even a pain in the butt when he showed up in Daryl’s mirage. So he even knew how to antagonize when he wasn’t even a regular cast member.

But he really showed his ass in Season 3, he and his stump known as “Little Merle.” If you haven’t seen The Talking Dead from last Sunday, then you’re really missing out. Michael Rooker, Greg Nicotero, David Morrissey and Reggie Watts all joined Chris Hardwick to talk about “This Sorrowful Life.”

Greg Nicotero is a great guest on any media outlet. He’s very informative and shares with “you” the ins and outs of episodic direction. I’ve never seen an interview with any director that’s so revealing on why he does this or does that.

Click the link above to read a list of media accolades and links to all things Walking Dead. Entertainment Weekly talks to Norman Reedus about Merle’s death and he tells The Hollywood Reporter that he “wants a ferocious revenge” for Merle’s death plus many, many more.

The Zombie Apocalypse continues through Sunday on AMC, as they show all three seasons leading up to the Season Finale of Season 3, which looks to answer all those questions Chris Hardwick and all the fans of TWD have been asking all season:

Will Rick stop seeing ghosts by Season 4 or will the prison dwellers request an intervention (or a séance)?

Will The Governor be re-elected now that he’s put the citizens of Woodbury in danger of being taken “prisoner?”

Will Glenn and Maggie have a ceremony or just exchange rings?

Who will emerge as the new leader @the Prison?

Walking Dead Marathon Happening NOW!

twd-s3-key-art-398.1It began at 10/9am CT with the first episode of Season 2, remember where they are driving down the freeway and come to the congestion of cars that stops them in their tracks. Everyone gets out and starts scavenging through the cars to find what they can when suddenly, a herd of walkers comes along.

Andrea is in the RV and ends up ducking into the bathroom where she’s trapped by a snoopy walker when he hears the sound of the gun she’s trying to put back together. Dale tosses a screwdriver down to her and she ends up stabbing the walker in the eye a couple of times (yuck).

Rick and Sophia end up in the woods and Sophia is lost and the rest of them spend the next few episodes looking for her. Of course you know what happens next …

If not, you should be turning to AMC right now, setting your DVR and get ready to get caught up on Season 2 which runs until 11:30/10:30pm CT. At that time, Season 2 begins all over again.

Season 3 begins on Sunday with “The Seed” at 1/12pm with new episodes at 9/8pm CT.

Finally, new episodes of The Walking Dead. Three minute previews of episode 309 are sprinkled throughout the marathon.

The Talking Dead returns tomorrow night at 10/9 CT. You can submit questions for the show in numerous ways for host Chris Hardwick and guests Kevin Smith and Steven Yeun.

More Walking Dead Fun … Exclusive Interview with Steven Yeun

Glenn Interview1

Glenn Interview2

Talking Dead – AMC

Talking Dead – AMC.

As I mentioned many posts ago, the Talking Dead is a “guilty pleasure” you should indulge in after watching The Walking Dead. Both on-air and on the web, the show is 30 minutes (counting commercials) plus there’s another 18 minutes of commercial free video on the web (http://www.amctv.com/talking-dead).

As promised, I won’t write spoilers or recaps on shows, but I must say, episode 304 (which in episodic TV speak is Season 3, episode 4) of The Walking Dead was a real WOWer! I was falling asleep in the last 10 minutes of it and in my sleeping stupor I heard little snatches of things … “but she’s my mother.” So when I woke up the next morning at 4:45am I quickly made my morning cup of joe (good and strong), grabbed my DVR remote and zipped it to the last 15 minutes of the episode and quickly watched the ending.

Just for reference, only the bonus segments of Talking Dead are on the website, not the television portion, but trust me, the bonus segments are much more up our baby boomer alley than the television portion. In the bonus section that the link above leads to Chris Hardwick (the host) challenges his guests (IronE Singleton (T-Dog) and Gale Anne Hurd (series producer)) to a game. What ensues is quite funny and wouldn’t be allowed on regular TV. Ah, the joy of cable!

Now don’t forget to click the link above and have a good laugh while you watch the bonus segment of The Talking Dead. And make it one of your guilty pleasures along with The Walking Dead, every Sunday at 9pmET on AMC.

Chris Hardwick is the host of The Talking Dead on AMC.
