‘Walking Dead’ Returns with Record 17.3M Viewers | Multichannel

‘Walking Dead’ Returns with Record 17.3M Viewers | Multichannel.

Yes, that’s 17.3 MILLION Viewers according to Nielsen live plus same-day data.

If you haven’t seen the premiere episode you can see it at amctv.com without having to log-in, for the next 29 days (as of Tuesday, October 14).

The Talking Dead is also available to watch for the next 26 days (as of Tuesday, October 14). Chris Hardwick had some great guests on the premiere episode of the Talking Dead including Conan O’Brien, Scott M. Gimple and Greg Nicotero. Conan O’Brien was hysterical.

If you’re a baby boomer and think for one minute that other baby boomers aren’t watching The Walking Dead, then go to the amctv.com website and look for an advertisement asking “ARE YOU A FAN OF THE WALKING DEAD?” Join AMC’s Viewer Panel to unlock exclusive content and rewards.

One of the last questions asks for your birth date. When I put in mine, which qualifies me as a baby boomer, it kicks me out saying “that age category is presently filled at the moment.” That tells me AMC apparently wants the opinions of, and appreciates those of us in that silver surfing category.

The No Sanctuary episode of Season 5 of The Walking Dead was phenomenal. Well worth waiting for. Of course I had to wait until yesterday and last night to watch it, because I was so tired on Sunday that I fell asleep just minutes before it came on and woke up when the theme music was playing. At that point I packed it in and gave in to the sandman beating the heck out of me, and watched it online yesterday while I was at work.

I had to watch it again last night when I got home. It’s definitely one of my favorite episodes. Bravo to Norman Reedus for his superb acting upon seeing Melissa McBride. Bravo to the entire cast and crew.

Have you been watching Season 4 of The Walking Dead? I certainly have. What about The Talking Dead? Have you set your DVR so you don’t miss anything?

Click the link above and you can read a Q&A with Lauren Cohan. She brings her dog to the set and she tells an interesting story about him.

The newest issue of The Walking Dead Magazine is out and I have to say it’s all about the walking dead (fans, video games, comic books, etc.). On page 11 of the Nov/Dec 2013 issue are results from its Season 3 Readers’ Poll and it yielded some very interesting results:

The fans favorite moment was Daryl and Merle arguing (36%) in the “Home” episode followed by Daryl killing his brother (28%) in “This Sorrowful Life.” Michonne discovering Penny in “Made to Suffer” came in third with 20%.

The Biggest Surprise/Shock category was the death of Andrea in “Welcome to the Tombs” with 41%; the Death of Lori (“Killer Within”) with 12%; and, Carl shooting Jody in “Welcome to the Tombs” with 8%.

Who’s  your favorite character? For 30% of TWDM Readers its Daryl; 25% like Rick; 15% like Andrea; 10% like Michonne.

What about your favorite episode? Here’s how TWDM‘s poll results turned out: Clear – 46%; Killer Within – 24%; Welcome to the Tombs – 15%; This Sorrowful Life – 5%; Prey – 5% and Other – 5%.

There’s also a special #115 cover commemorating the NYCC.

‘Walking Dead’ Is Top-Rated Scripted Show of Season

‘Walking Dead’ Is Top-Rated Scripted Show of Season, in a First for Cable | TheWrap TV.

We’re getting close to the Emmy Award announcement, July 18 to be precise, with the ceremony to be held on Sept. 22. That’s probably why you’re be seeing lots of articles talking about this show reaching this pinnacle and that show doing this and so on and so forth.

Walking Dead and the “staff” is certainly getting tons of nods. On Monday, Advertising Age recognized Greg Nicotero as one of their Creativity 50. He was #1 on the list.

As far as I’m concerned … it’s about time!!! Us “Dead” fans are only on pins and needles, anxiously awaiting Season 4.

The Walker Horde coming soon from Gentle Giant.

The Walker Horde from Gentle Giant.

My GentleGiant Walker Horde arrived the other day and I felt like I was 8 years old  again getting a new outfit for my Barbie doll. I must admit, having two teams made up of 7 zombie walkers is pretty darn cool. This will probably be a really hot item at ComicCon this year.

A friend of mine at work forwarded this to me from The Hollywood Reporter:

Finally realizing that nothing spurs consumer spending like a sense of apocalyptic dread, VISA has partnered with Robert Kirkman to create a series of prepaid debit cards emblazoned with images from The Walking Dead. Now you can give the gift that says, “I know you like one thing, so go buy that thing—or some other thing!—with this thing imprinted with that first thing,” while also saying, “Civilization is fragile and humanity is a tenuous illusion, so let’s go shopping.”  Each card comes with your choice of comic artist Charlie Adlard’s drawings (Rick on horseback, Michonne brandishing her katana, zombies lurching toward you in what is by no means meant to be an ironic visual metaphor for mindless consumption) and promise to deliver what Kirkman calls “an exciting way for fans to incorporate the series’ art into their daily lives.” Specifically, the part of your life where you decide to buy something with your VISA card, and—just like on the TV show—the excitement of considering whether to do something, having a conversation about it, and then standing around waiting. [via The Hollywood Reporter].

Dalton Ross and Jenna Morasca from Inside TV recently interviewed Norman Reedus (June 6) while on set from Senoia, Georgia. Reedus said that the scripts are just amazing this season and that the zombies this season are becoming more of a threat.

His actual quote … “They’ve introduced a way to make the zombies scary again.” Gee, I’ve always thought they were scary. But apparently … “they’re terrifying. The new threat is just unreal.” Wow!

Awards – The Walking Dead – Definitely Award Worthy

Awards – The Walking Dead – AMC.

Well, The Walking Dead Season 3 is over until October when Season 4 starts. I had to watch the final episode twice to get a good grasp of how everything wrapped up. I was glad that there wasn’t a big cliffhanger scenario.

If you watched The Talking Dead‘s season finale, Norman Reedus said he was glad that the writers didn’t leave this season with all these open ended situations like they did when Season 3 ended. What was really weird was when they decided to take a caller and he started to speak this corpse rising incantation (he was from Tennessee). They cut him off (or hung up on him) after a few seconds, but it certainly left the panel and the host a little freaked out.

Of course no one knows exactly where The Governor drove off to.

The link above takes you to a long list of awards The Walking Dead and The Walking Dead Webisodes have won this year. Enjoy.

Oh, before you click, did you see the winning video of the AMC The Walking Dead/Dr. Pepper contest? It was very clever.

TWD No. 1 in THR Power Rankings (Spoiler Inside) – Marathon Continues

Merle Dixon played by Michael Rooker Photo Credit: Gene Page/AMC

Michael Rooker, Norman Reedus Talk Merles Death; TWD No. 1 in THR Power Rankings – The Walking Dead – AMC.

It’s Saturday, March 30, and if you haven’t seen last Sunday’s Walking Dead, then I have bad news for you, Merle Dixon has been killed … twice. His human form was killed by The Governor and his zombie form was killed by his brother Daryl.

Merle has been the antagonist in TWD for, well, all three seasons. In Season 2, he was even a pain in the butt when he showed up in Daryl’s mirage. So he even knew how to antagonize when he wasn’t even a regular cast member.

But he really showed his ass in Season 3, he and his stump known as “Little Merle.” If you haven’t seen The Talking Dead from last Sunday, then you’re really missing out. Michael Rooker, Greg Nicotero, David Morrissey and Reggie Watts all joined Chris Hardwick to talk about “This Sorrowful Life.”

Greg Nicotero is a great guest on any media outlet. He’s very informative and shares with “you” the ins and outs of episodic direction. I’ve never seen an interview with any director that’s so revealing on why he does this or does that.

Click the link above to read a list of media accolades and links to all things Walking Dead. Entertainment Weekly talks to Norman Reedus about Merle’s death and he tells The Hollywood Reporter that he “wants a ferocious revenge” for Merle’s death plus many, many more.

The Zombie Apocalypse continues through Sunday on AMC, as they show all three seasons leading up to the Season Finale of Season 3, which looks to answer all those questions Chris Hardwick and all the fans of TWD have been asking all season:

Will Rick stop seeing ghosts by Season 4 or will the prison dwellers request an intervention (or a séance)?

Will The Governor be re-elected now that he’s put the citizens of Woodbury in danger of being taken “prisoner?”

Will Glenn and Maggie have a ceremony or just exchange rings?

Who will emerge as the new leader @the Prison?

#1 Previews Exclusive Edition

#1 Previews Exclusive Edition

I’m in Walking Dead heaven. No, I haven’t been consumed by one of them. I received two issues of The Walking Dead magazine from Titan Magazines, a division of Titan Publishing Group Limited.

Number 1 covered Nov/Dec 2012 and #2 Jan/Feb 2013. I’m also due to receive #3 along with my Walking Dead #108 comic. They are so totally awesome (OMG, I sound like I’m 17 and just out of high school. Excuse me a minute while I go somewhere and slap myself in the back of my head a few times).

I received my magazines from TFAW.com. There are actually two types: the Previews Exclusive Edition (which are the ones I’m receiving from TFAW.com) and the Newsstand Edition. I’m not sure at this moment how different they are. Earlier today I downloaded a free version of #3 (newsstand edition) to my Kindle Fire HD. Once I receive the Preview Exclusive Edition of #3 from TFAW.com I can compare the two to see the difference between the two.

The covers are definitely different. But that’s not the best part. Every page has something to do with The Walking Dead. I’m only halfway through #1 and I’ve already read a great article about Robert Kirkman and how he sees the story in the comics vs. the story we watch on Sunday nights.

#1 Newstand Edition

#1 Newstand Edition

Number 1 covers late last year (Nov/Dec 2012) so much of what’s in this issue is previewing what’s upcoming in Season 3 but there’s still so much about The Walking Dead – it’s like a massive clearing house of information.

For example … in the Head Shots section there’s a write-up about the San Diego Comic-Con from July 2012. Gentle Giant exhibited an exciting piece of new merchandise that’s due for release in early 2013. I checked their site and it’s not out yet, but I added my email to their customer list so when they release it for sale, I’ll be notified.

What is it you ask? Ever receive a bag of plastic army men when you were a youngster? I never did, but that doesn’t mean I didn’t buy a few bags of them for party gifts a time or two. Gentle Giant will be releasing something on that same order but not quite … yep, you guessed it … The Walker Horde. I can’t wait to get mine.

Laurie Holden Talks About The Walking Dead + Norman Reedus as The Punisher

Laurie Holden Talks to TV Guide; Variety on The Walking Dead vs. Downton Abbey – The Walking Dead – AMC.

As I was watching the Walking Dead marathon yesterday during the Super Bowl, I realized just how far our band of survivors has come. It’s always good to be able to see the beginning and then reflect what shapes characters.

Take for instance Laurie Holden (Andrea) losing her sister (Amy) and then, when she wants to leave her misery and pain behind her, Dale won’t let her (in the last episode (TS-19) of Season 1).

The Walking Dead, Season One, episode "Vatos"

The Walking Dead, Season One, episode “Vatos”

I also realized that Glenn got kidnapped in the first season by the homies in the episode “Vatos,” which is actually one of my favorites. “Vatos” is the episode where Rick, T-Dog, Daryl and Glenn return to Atlanta to retrieve Merle and the bag of guns Rick dropped when he was taken down by the gang of walkers.

It turns out that for all the machismo they’re showing, the homies are just trying to keep a well hidden assisted living center running. Guillermo (Neil Brown, Jr.) was the custodian and is elevated to “leader.” He uses one street credit line in there that’s hysterical, claiming he’ll feed “Glenn to his dogs that he stole from Satan’s backyard.” The dogs turn out to be 3 toy chihuahuas.

This episode (Vatos) attained general acclaim from the TV critics because it successfully made the viewers experience the daily life of the show’s characters. Upon initial airing it attained 4.75 million viewers according to Nielsen. It became the highest-rated cable program of the day and the ninth most-watched cable program of the week.

The Walking Dead – New to Show and a Chip Dip Recipe!

The Walking Dead – New to Show – AMC.

It’s Friday, Dec. 21 and I have four days off in a row. Imagine, I don’t have to get up with the alarm clock for four days.

And then it’s back to work and then more days off! Plus I always take a vacation day after a Holiday which means I’ll be off on the 2nd of January which leads me to why I’m writing this post.

Starting on Dec. 31 and continuing through Jan. 1, AMC will be running all episodes of The Walking Dead. A perfect opportunity for you to get caught up with everything before new episodes return on Sunday, Feb. 10 at 9pm/8pm CT.

Lori Acken from our office interviewed Steven Yeun (who plays Glenn Rhee) this week and asked me for questions. I was honored.

One of the questions I gave her to ask him was if he had any recipes to recommend in case someone was planning a New Years Eve/Walking Dead Marathon party. I’m not sure if she asked him that, hence, not sure if he recommended any recipes, but I’ve got a helluva cream cheese and olive chip dip recipe that’s been in our family going on 50 years or more, if you want that.

The link I have for you is perfect if you’re New to the Show … because that’s exactly what the link is! Have fun … oh and if you want that chip dip recipe, leave me a comment with your email address and I’ll send it right along.

Three Videos Sneak The Walking Dead’s Return in 2013

Three Videos Sneak The Walking Dead’s Return in 2013.

Here’s some Walking Dead video fun in case your craving is getting the best of you. I know I had a hard time on Sunday realizing there wasn’t anything worth watching at 8pm except reruns. Thank heaven for my DVR (how many times have you heard me say that?).

There are several videos here, some as long as six minutes, with behind the scenes action. Watching most of them at least whet my appetite some.

Remember, AMC will be showing all three seasons of The Walking Dead starting New Years Eve Day through New Years Day. Just think what a great party theme that would make. If I were you, I’d start googling for recipes right now.

The Walking Dead‘s new episodes return Sunday, February 10 at 9/8c.
